Legacy of 1804 with Cynthia Verna #LOF1804

Join me as I welcome Cynthia Verna, a chef and rape survivor and author of the forthcoming "Calvaires: Viols et Autres Souffrances". She is also in the process of founding the Cynthia Support Center for survivors of sexual abuse, a project of Word And Action in Haiti.

Listen live or archived at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/pancaribbean/2015/05/09/legacy-of-1804-with-cynthia-verna-lof1804. Listen (live only) at (714) 242-6119.

UPDATE: SHOW AUDIO

It was a shorter conversation than planned as I had to attend a Haiti Film Fest screening which ran later than expected. However, Cynthia, who I managed to get on thirty minutes into the audio delved into issues of sexual abuse and her motivation for coming forward so many years later with great candor and courage.

Check out her book Calvaires which went on sale on Amazon that night and which was selling quickly.

We will get Cynthia back on the show for a more thorough conversation soon.

Though she does not reveal the identity of her rapist, she says it is a woman "everybody knows."
